Beach Bliss

May 27, 2023- I woke up to the gentle rays of the Costa Rican sun and my parents and I eagerly made our way to the buffet breakfast. The enticing buffet offered Gallo pinto, a flavorful blend of rice and beans, alongside miniature croissants and juicy slices of mango. My taste buds danced in happiness as I ate these amazing foods.

With the day stretching out before us like an open canvas, ready to be painted with memories, we decided to do a beach day. Taking advantage of the complimentary boat shuttle service, we hopped aboard at noon, filled with anticipation for the hidden treasures that awaited us.

As the boat approached the beach, I jumped off the boat with ungracefulness. The deep blue waters harshly lapped against the shore, framed by lush greenery in the back that quickly filled my canvas. Though we were greeted by a mere hundred insect casualties, the mesmerizing surroundings did not overshadow the initial unease. As you can tell, I’m deeply terrified of insects.

With no one else in sight, we loved the sensation of having our own private beach. To cool off under the tropical sun, I ordered refreshing non-alcoholic Piña Coladas and ate delectable mahi mahi fish tacos, savoring each bite as the flavors harmonized on my tongue.

The surrounding wildlife presented itself in a mesmerizing display. A pair of Scarlet macaws were kissing each other and munching on almonds. their vibrant feathers ignited the tree on fire with their bursts of color ( jk no tree was burnt). As I was sipping on my colada, a playful baby howler monkey made an appearance, adding an extra layer of happiness to my beach day.

While the sounds of the waves and the screeches of the macaws, we all took a little nap to refresh ourselves under the almond tree.

Refreshed by our siesta, we decided to take a stroll on the beach. There were too many of these dead winged insects that I turned back. I was dying without water, so I decided to treat myself to a mango smoothie before saying goodbye to the private beach. The boat arrived and I got on hitting my head on the roof of the boat. In the distance, the captain saw dolphins, specifically spotted dolphins, and he kindly veered off course, bringing us closer to these magnificent creatures. Among the group of spotted dolphins, a solitary male bottlenose dolphin stole my parent’s and my heart with its presence.

Returning to our hotel at 4:30 PM, the exhaustion of the day’s activities began to set in. The fifteen-minute walk back felt never-ending, leaving us practically drained upon arrival. Grateful for the hotel’s dinner buffet, I eagerly filled my plates, unknowingly setting the stage for an unpleasant consequence the next day. Despite the unfortunate turn of events, I couldn’t let it overshadow the memories made during my day at the beach.
