Traveling to Osa Peninsula

May 26, 2023- As the sun’s warm rays gently filtered through the curtains of our comfortable rooms at the Hyatt, I awoke to the alarm clock of my Dad’s phone. After getting ready for the long day, I ate Gallo pinto, a traditional Costa Rican dish of rice and beans, accompanied by a bowl of Frosted Flakes. The fusion of flavors between the local cuisine and the beloved American cereal was a delightful start to the day.

Energized and ready to continue our expedition, we started the journey to the enchanting Osa Peninsula. However, the winding roads proved to be a challenge for me. The mesmerizing views of the lush rainforest, accompanied by the constant twists and turns, took a toll on my stomach. Unfortunately, the winding roads triggered a bout of nausea, leading to an unexpected pit stop to throw up.

There was a roadside Costa Rican selling coconut water and fruit. For a mere 500 colones, equivalent to around 1 US dollar, we drank this refreshing elixir of tropical paradise. The coconut water worked its magic, alleviating my discomfort and rejuvenating my spirit. And, to my delight, there was passionfruit, its sweetness offering a burst of flavor that earned a perfect 10/10 rating.

With my stomach settled, we resumed our journey, eventually reaching the charming town of Uvita. Our hunger pangs led us to the renowned Aracari restaurant, where I ate a mouthwatering dish of mahi-mahi accompanied by vibrant, fresh vegetables. The combination of the locally caught fish and the crisp, colorful produce left me satisfied and ready to continue my adventure.

The road beckoned once more, and as we continued towards our final destination, Botanika Hotel by Hilton Curio Collection, the clock struck 7 PM. A journey that began at 10 AM had been filled with unexpected twists and turns, but my spirit remained undeterred.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a contemporary and stylish atmosphere. The Hilton Curio Collection had truly captured the essence of modern luxury, and the pristine bathrooms, in particular, deserved a 10/10 rating.

To please my stomach, I ate a margarita flatbread, its flavors blending harmoniously. The only drawback was the slightly hard crust, which led us to give it an 8/10. Nevertheless, it was a satisfying meal that filled me with fulfillment.

With a satisfied stomach and my body yearning for rest, I slipped into a deep slumber, dreaming of the adventures that awaited my family and I in the coming days.
